Why I want to give up-and-coming professionals their own networking group

At the start of our working lives, building a robust network is as vital as gaining experience and qualifications. However, traditional networking events can feel stiff, formal and daunting for professionals early in their careers, making genuine connections hard to come by. That’s why the idea for this event was born. I want to create a space where young professionals can come together as friends in a laid-back environment conducive to open, meaningful interactions.

What’s It All About?
This new event is for people at the beginning of their journey, in sectors like finance, banking, accounting, law, auditing and property, among others. It’s for those of us working towards professional qualifications or those who have recently qualified, looking to build a network of peers in the same boat. The goal is to forge a community of ambitious individuals who are passionate about what they do and are eager to support each other through exams, career challenges and opportunities.

The Vision
Imagine a network of young, ambitious professionals with decades of career growth ahead. By coming together now, we can unlock potential opportunities, share insights, and build connections that will support our careers for years to come. I believe in a collaborative spirit, where we can learn from and help each other grow.

The Atmosphere
Networking shouldn’t be daunting. That’s why these events will ditch the nametags and the formalities. The first of these quarterly get-togethers will be in a relaxed, informal and friendly bar setting. There’s no dress code; just come as you are, ready to meet like-minded individuals. Down the line, we’ll introduce speakers to provide additional insights, but the core will always be about building relationships.

Why This Matters
For young professionals, building a black book of contacts early on is invaluable. But more than that, it’s about creating a support network of people who understand the challenges and opportunities we face. Having a diverse group from across the professional services industry means we can gain many perspectives, making us all more well-rounded and informed professionals.
