To address this need, the Alliance of Independent Agencies, in partnership with BAND and Synergist, introduced the Agency Performance Pulse—a strategic tool designed to provide agencies with valuable insights into their commercial operations.

Unveiling the First Agency Performance Pulse Findings

Agency leaders convened at Google’s St Giles office in Central London to discuss the inaugural findings of the Agency Performance Pulse. The event was hosted by Jason Neale from The Agency Works and featured a panel of agency and client specialists, including Shelley Watkin, Client Finance Director at Redfin, part of the BAND group. The session provided an insightful and reflective analysis of the current agency landscape.

Reflecting on Recent Challenges

Jason Neale led the discussion by examining the significant challenges agencies faced over the past six months. Emphasis was on viewing these obstacles through the rear-view mirror and focusing on future strategies. This perspective underscores the importance of learning from past experiences to inform proactive planning.

With over 30,000 marketing agencies across the UK—a number that has grown rapidly over the past 4-5 years—standing out has become increasingly challenging. Tim Buchanan, Group Marketing Director at Hiscox, emphasised the difficulties clients and agencies face in understanding differentiation in a saturated market.

The Agency Performance Pulse aims to provide a timely snapshot of how independent agencies are performing and the strategies they are implementing to drive success. By participating in this initiative, agencies can benchmark their performance against peers and gain insights into effective practices within the industry.

How to Get Involved?

The Agency Performance Pulse is open to all members and associates of the Alliance of Independent Agencies and clients of BAND and Synergist. Participation is straightforward: with the next Pulse survey due to be released this coming June, participants receive a comprehensive report detailing their results along with a dashboard allowing them to benchmark they responses against other participants, plus of course attendance at the event itself.
