Neil Stammers joins BAND as Non-Exec Chairman

5 September 2023 | 5 min read

We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Neil Stammers as BAND’s Non-Executive Chairman.

We’d love to share the journey that his led him here and why this role feels like the perfect fit…

Neil explains: “With a background in accounting and business consultancy and a particularly keen passion for the creative sector, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some incredibly ambitious and colourful businesses over the years. Most recently, my endeavours as a Non-Exec Director at Fame Factory (part of Done + Dusted X) and a Partner at Walpole Designed Developments have allowed me to indulge my interest in both the creative and architectural arenas.

But going back a bit further…my mission since starting in this field has been to understand the unique needs, challenges, and ambitions of passionate entrepreneurs and to provide them with the support they need to develop. This desire aligns with BAND’s mission, and I can honestly say this collaboration feels like it was meant to be.

After training and qualifying at Unilever, I began my journey with Lee Associates, building a niche accounting and business advisory practice, supporting a broad range of creative SME’s. During my 20-year tenure, I gained considerable exposure to various aspects of transactional work – buying, selling, merging, separating – and starting anew. In my experience, businesses within the creative industry rarely standstill and as result continually need – and value – an experienced guiding hand.

What’s always stood out to me in this field is the opportunity to work with fascinating individuals. The creative sector attracts interesting, ambitious, and incredibly bright people, and building long-term relationships with them has been just as rewarding as the involvement in the business successes.

Eventually, we sold Lee Associates to Haines Watts, an exciting transition for sure and one that was not without its challenges. Looking back, I appreciate the successes but also recognise our shortcomings and learnings in scaling the company – these are lessons that now inform my approach to client work and my involvement with BAND.

What I love most about this work, what continues to inspire me, is the genuine difference that can be made in helping businesses grow and flourish. Now, with BAND, I see a fantastic opportunity to work with ambitious clients and colleagues – all aligning perfectly with my personal interests and expertise. I’m eager to contribute my experiences, insights and passion to this exciting new chapter.

What an opportunity indeed! I can’t wait to get started, and I look forward to what we can achieve together at BAND.”

As you can see, Neil brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the creative sector, which is perfectly aligned with our mission. With his impressive background in accounting, finance and strategic consultancy, experience as a Non-Exec Director across a range of marcomms businesses, and love for architecture and all things creative, he’s a unique asset to our team. His entrepreneurial time building Lee Associates, and his role leading Haines Watts’ growth in the creative sectors, means that his expertise is also invaluable.

As we warmly welcome Neil, we’re excited for the future – more growth, more innovation and supporting our clients’ big ambitions.
